“The key to success is to risk thinking unconventional thoughts.
Convention is the enemy of progress.
If you go down just one corridor of thought
you never get to see what’s in the rooms leading off it”
Trevor Bayliss
The following short 3 minute video features a story about vision, courage and how we think about the world.
“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority,
it is time to pause and reflect”
Mark Twain
To be successful we all need to think outside the box every now and then.
The video teaches us that we don’t have to be considered smart to be successful, we simply have to love winning. If we have faith in what we want to achieve, we will work out the means to achieve it by.
“You laugh at me because I am different;
I laugh because you are all the same.”
Daniel Knode
It also reminds us that it is important to choose team-members who share the same vision as us.
The lesson teaches us that you don’t have to be considered smart, you have to love winning, and choose partners who share the same vision as you
“Traditional thinking is all about “what is”
Future thinking will also need to be about what can be.”
Edward de Bono
Is your business prepared to think outside the box and take its destiny within its own hands?

Social media is a taking the world by storm. It changes the way we see the world, do things and interact with one another.
Exactly what is social media?
On Wikipedia Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein define social media as “a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, and that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated content.”
Ron Jones has defined social media as:
“Social media essentially is a category of online media where people are talking, participating, sharing, networking, and bookmarking online.”
Essentially, Social media is the use of technology combined with social interaction.
Traditionally media has delivered its message to readers/viewers/listeners and has been a one way conversation flow. Social media is interactive, it allows users to participate and even generate content.
Social media is highly scalable and instead of the traditional broadcasting of one to many, it allows the broadcasting of many to many. For that reason it can produce viral marketing quickly and easily.
Social media has changed the business environment. Businesses both big and small (if the big multi-nationals are doing it, it’s an indication all of us should probably be doing it!) can now reach consumers through the power of the internet and mobile technology. No longer does cash determine our marketing ability, and the playing field has been levelled so small businesses can compete with the big boys.
Through this technology we can reach old customers, gain new ones, build and maintain our credibility and interact with our prospects.
Social mediums have become increasingly more popular (with all age groups) and the number of social media platforms is increasing exponentially! Most platforms are global, and allow businesses to converse in multiple languages with multiple target audiences that was not possible previously. Users enjoy social media because it keeps them involved sharing their opinion, ideas, thoughts, photos, video etc and they have fun!
Social marketing represents the new tool in brand awareness, marketing and ultimately making sales.
Ways to use social media to your advantage:
1. Create buzz/demand
Use the power of your network to share newsworthy events, special offers, important information or anything that can add value. You can always embed a link back to you and what you want people to see. If you can impress your network, they’ll help make your message go viral.
2. Allow your fans and followers to promote you.
Make it easy for people to promote you or share your material. The facebook fan page is an ideal way to do this.
3. Create conversation
In the online world, sales are rarely made at first contact. Interact, and allow others to participate and converse with you. Building trust and relationships is the key to successful sales in both the online and offline world.
Examples of social media:
Some of the more popular and well-known social media platforms today are Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr, Linkedin, however social media includes and is not limited to the following:
Whilst there are some countries, populations, sectors and individuals who think social media is a fad; we think social media is here to stay, and revolutionise the way business is conducted over the next 5-10 years or more. We would love to hear your stories and views on social media, and ways you think we can best utilise this media.
Does your company provide OUTSTANDING Customer Service?
“Customer service is not a department, it’s an attitude”
Whilst we can all strive to go the extra mile and stand out from the crowd, the only way to consistently provide exceptional customer service in my view, is to always strive to be better, and measure your performance.
“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care”
John C Maxwell
Just as an athlete may want to run a marathon, he has to start with small steps, and it is only through training and continual improvement he will reach his/her end goal.
In the business world it is often easy to forget to ‘train’ everyday, seeking small improvements, pushing and testing oneself, for those who are great servants are rarely perfect from their first attempt, but get better as their journey progresses.
“There are no traffic jams along the extra mile”
Roger Staubach
Excerpt from “Customer Love” by Mac Anderson(reprinted with permission from Simple Truths)
The 10 most important words:
“I apologize for our mistake. Let me make it right.” When something goes wrong, most people merely want to be heard and acknowledged. So listen, apologize, then ask what you can do to make it right.
The 9 most important words:
“Thank you for your business. Please come back again.” Repeat customers cost less than new customers and are often more loyal.
The 8 most important words:
“I’m not sure, but I will find out.” It’s ok if you don’t know the answer; it’s not ok to make the customer keep searching for it. That’s your job.
The 7 most important words:
“What else can I do for you?” Be prepared to go the extra mile, there is less competition there.
The 6 most important words:
“What is most convenient for you?” Your customers will be pleasantly surprised when you ask what’s convenient for them.
The 5 most important words:
“How may I serve you?” This question reinforces your role in the relationship. Play that role the best you can.
The 4 most important words:
“How did we do?” Feedback is critical! Your customers have a unique perspective and they appreciate being asked.
The 3 most important words:
“Glad you’re here!” Customers who feel welcome spend more time, more money and are more likely to return.
The 2 most important words:
“Thank you.” Basic manners… but how often do you get thanked when you’re the customer?
The MOST important word:
“Yes.” Become a yes person.
“The goal as a company is to have customer service
that is not just the best, but legendary”
Sam Walton
Legendary customer service is critical to the longevity and proftability of your business. Implement the above information, and always strive for continual improvement and you are sure to reap the rewards!
February sees the start of Football season in Australia, and a great chance to increase your business exposure!
There is a vast array of supporter merchandise and promotional products your business and organisation can use to promote your business or organisation, your corporate image/brand or special event.
All these items can be branded with your logo, slogan or appropriate text.
Synergy Promo Products has a full range of supporter merchandise and promotional products
Other merchandise you can use for your events and supporters gear includes
By sponsoring your local side or a professional team, you can help out your local community and the teams involved. As well as giving something back, you can benefit from the exposure and publicity generated.
Or you could simply use high profile sports events or local events to advertise aspects of your business by giving away promotional merchandise. This could include your own merry band of supporters or creating your own supporters through the use of giveaways.
Think of how effective a yellow or pink wristband has been in promoting awareness of cancer and helping to create a buzz about these issues (this is called guerrilla marketing and creates a viral impact)
You are limited only by your imagination, time and energy!
Has your business been through some tough times with the recent economic conditions?
What matters is not what is happening to you right now, but how you finish!
“Most of us have far more courage than we ever dream we possessed” Dale Carnegie
None of us can control what others do, or the external factors of the world. What we can control is our own attitudes, our motivation and drive.
The following video by Dan Green is the type of material all business owners and employees need reminding of every now and then.
“If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way” Napoleon Hill
It’s a short yet powerful multimedia presentation that reminds us to focus on our goals and where we are heading, rather than make excuses and dwell on the negatives around us.
How will you choose to respond to the challenge before you?

How well does your organization do when it comes to providing customer Service?
In today’s competitive environment it is more important than ever to stand out from the competition.
The good news is that is not necessarily that difficult.
There are only 2 ways to position your business
1. The ladder of price
People devalue what they bring to the marketplace
2. The ladder of value
Today we commonly see many businesses compete on price. This is because they don’t provide great service or add value.
The reason customer service has become so poor today in my opinion is due to motive.
I believe if you have the right motives, the results will take care of themselves. (This is the law of attraction at work).
If you see clients as dollar signs and chase the sale, you have the impure motives. If you try to help others improve their position, add value and are prepared to delay monetary gratification to those who see how much they need your service, you will prosper.
When you compete on the ladder of value you will find:
1. There is no competition so that you never have to compete on price
2. It’s actually easier to sell a high priced product compared with a low priced product
3. It’s the secret to massive wealth
Focus on adding value and giving great service.
The difference between good service and great service can be highlighted in this great video.
It reminds us of the above. Add value, have pure motives, and then be astounded by the results!
Watch this short 3 minute video here and share it with others. They’ll thank you for it. We have provided it for numerous groups and the response is always very emotional and tearjerking.
It is important that you set aside (quiet) time to plan, reflect and strategise for your business.
Make sure you have pen and paper as you will want to record your ideas and notes.
As one of our business mentors say’s “You have to become a master at self-reflection.
The person who controls the marketplace today is the person who self-reflects the most”
The first step in achieving success is knowing what you want.
The second step is knowing the obstacles you face, or what is holding you back.
10 Step Goal Setting method:
1. What do you want to achieve this year?
Write down as many goals as you can think of for what you want to accomplish this year, in any area of your life.
E.g. Wealth, life, health, relationship, family, spiritual, personal development etc…
If you struggle to come up with goals, ask yourself “If I could have/be anything I wanted in life, what would it be?”
Finally highlight one goal that is the most important to you and to improving your position this year.
2. What is the story you have about why you don’t deserve success?
What limiting beliefs do you have about what you can achieve?
Take note of your internal dialogue as very often our harshest critics are ourselves and we must overcome our negative self-talk.
3. What is the story you have about why you do deserve success?
What factors make you worthy of success?
Why do you deserve to be successful?
4. What has stopped you in the past?
You may not know exactly what has stopped you. However if you can identify what is stopping you, you will have a much greater chance of success.
Common blockages include: lack of time, lack of money, lack of resources, procrastination lack of motivation, not having the right opportunity, lack of self-belief, not knowing how to achieve it etc.
5. What patterns have you noticed occurring that have contributed to you failing to achieve your goals?
E.g. Do you start off excited with lots of energy and enthusiasm only to lose motivation in a few weeks time?
Do you find it hard to get started?
Do you try to do too many things at once and never finish anything?
Once you identify your behavioural patterns that hold you back, you can put in place strategies to overcome them.
6. If there were two important changes required for you to achieve success, what would they be?
Write down anything you can think of.
Once you know what you have to do, it is simply a matter of getting out there and making it happen!
7. What help, support and resources would you need to achieve your goal?
Almost all of us need some form of help to achieve our goals.
What else do you need?
A mentor? Additional skills? A clear/detailed action plan? More ideas? Greater research into the marketplace?
What can you delegate to free up your (valuable) time?
There are lots of resources available, you just need to know where to find them.
8. List 3 things you can do every day to help you achieve your goals
Once you know what you need to do on a daily basis, make yourself accountable.
This may be an accountability partner, or it may be an incentive/disincentive
E.g. Incentive – A reward if you make 3 prospective phone calls every day
E.g. Disincentive – A donation to charity if you don’t make 3 prospective phone calls every day.
9. Write down your goals where you will see them regularly and review them often
It is important to have written goals that are you will see often to embed these desires into your subconscious memory which will then work out how to achieve them.
Do you need a poster in your office, a small card in your wallet, goals written on a screensaver on your computer? Make sure you place them in a location you will see regularly!
10. Celebrate when you start achieving your goals
Nothing will motivate you more than achieving goals.
Reward yourself
E.g. a night out, buy new clothes, get a new computer when you get an extra $1000 profit etc.
Follow the 10 step goal setting method enjoy the changes it will bring to your life! At Synergy Promo Products we are committed to your marketing success, please share your success stories with us and feel free to contact us if we can help/provide advice in any way.

USB Drives (also known as flash drives, thumb drives, USB Sticks or jump drives) come in a wide variety of physical forms, and memory capacities.
USB Drives - Classic series
With such a large percentage of people having computers either in their home, at work or carried with them in person, the use of USB drives is growing all the time. USB Drives are used for items too large for email, or easy transfer between computers.
USB Drives have become increasingly popular for transporting and transferring information and software. Branded USB Drives represent a great way to promote and market your business, through either a logo printed directly on the drive, and/or marketing material contained on the drive itself.
Branded USB Drives allow you to place your business ahead of the competition by utilising your branding in a practical product for today’s lifestyle.
Things to look for when buying branded USB Drives:
Type of memory chip
Not all flash memory is the same. Choose flash memory chips from a reputable supplier like Intel or Samsung.
At Synergy Promo Products we only use Grade A Samsung or Hynix Memory Chips. We do not use Second Grade or recycled chips which are commonly used and result in high failure rates (20-50%). All our USB drives come with 10 Year Data Retention Warranty.
Be wary of ‘seemingly’ cheap USB drives which are flooding the market, as most use second grade or recycled chips (classified as Grade C or D) and a number of users have been ‘burnt’ by the loss of valuable data with these chips.
Read/write speeds
USB 2.0 supports three speeds. Low speed, full speed and maximum speed. The speed will make a difference when larger files are being accessed.
All our drives have read/write speeds of 8-10Mb/Sec
Failure rate
This measures how long a USB drive will function before it fails. This can be as high as 100 000 read-write cycles, down to 25 000 for lower quality drives. The quality of the memory chip will determine the failure rate of the drive.
Data retention
Do the USB drives come with a data retention warranty?
At Synergy Promo Products, our USB drives come with a 10 year data retention warranty
Packaging options
There are different packaging options available such as a polybag, zipbag, pouches (eg PVC, velvet), gift boxes (Commonly in black, white or silver tin), gift boxes with see through lids
Packaging options for USB Drives
Accessory options
You can use lanyards and keyring attachments to make it easier for users to transport, use and make their USB drive visible
Decoration Methods
Pad Printing
Laser engraving or blackened laser engraving
Decoration options
Custom printing can be performed on the USB drive and/or the packaging.
Epoxy doming can be performed to provide a more resilient barrier and protection for the USB drive
Data options
Pre-loading of data can performed for you to save you valuable time and effort.
Data can be locked, so that the client cannot erase your important information
Auto-run application can be used, so that upon insertion the USB drive opens your desired file or application eg a marketing video, your contact details etc
Executive range of USB Drives
We have supplied USB drives to a number of IT and other companies who have used them for data storage, corporate gifts and marketing strategies.
Contact one of the team at Synergy Promo Products to discuss how you can use USB drives to promote and market your business.
